Wedding day makeup Tips

Your wedding day will see you be the centre of attention for the entire day. Everyone will be looking at you so you want to look your best. From putting on the veil, kissing your husband and dancing, your makeup will be disturbed. As your make-up plays an important role in complimenting your features, gown and accessories, it is important to try look your best.

To ensure that your makeup looks fantastic, use a professional make up artist. Make sure you have a trial a few months before your wedding day.

Skin
Your skin is the basis for your wedding day makeup as this is where it all begins. Make sure you drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun in the weeks leading up the wedding.
If you don't already use lip balm and moisturizer, now is the time to start. These items will help to keep your skin refreshed. Lip balm will moisturize your lips which is helpful because colour fades unevenly on dry lips.

For brides with oily skin, be sure to avoid any harsh skin treatments as these can actually increase the amount of oil in your skin. A better alternative is to being a skin care routine with cleansers and balancers made specifically for your skin type.

Don't be afraid to experiment with makeup in the months leading up to the wedding. You should aim to have your makeup choices made at least a month before the wedding so that you can be sure you do not have nasty reactions to new products.

Get your last regular facial a week before the wedding. If you rarely have facials, don't get one within a month of the wedding.
Use a handkerchief tucked in the bouquet to wipe lipstick from your groom's mouth after the kiss

Base
Now that your skin is looking fantastic, you'll want a flawless complexion:

It is a good idea to apply some moisturiser about twenty minutes before you start to apply your makeup. This will help to reduce slide.

Use some concealer underneath your eyes. If you anticipate that you'll be doing some crying, look for an oil-based concealer.

If your usual foundation wears away easily, try to find a formula with a little oil in it as this will help. Complete your foundation with face powder.

Cheeks
For a blushing bride look that doesn't disappear and fizzle out during the ceremony, use a powder-based blush because they will usually last longer than cream blushes.

Eyes
Keep your eyes looking fantastic on your wedding day with the tips below.

Don't ever pluck or wax brows the day of the wedding. There's always the chance overdoing it and you could develop red rashes.

A good effect is to use eye shadow primer before putting on the eye colour and apply a neutral shadow over the eye. This will give you a softer more natural look. Prep your eyelids with an eyeshadow base or a little face powder. Use an off-white pencil inside the lower rims of the eyes to brighten them

Apply two coats of waterproof mascara. Let each coat dry for a few seconds before applying the next layer. If you you think you'll cry a lot, leave your lower lashes clean and you will reduce the smudging.

Another idea you might like to try is an eyelash perm. They will last for about nine weeks.

Lips
If there's one thing you can bank on, it's that you will be doing a lot of kissing on your wedding day. This means you'll need a lip colour that will last. For a long lasting, kissable look, try the hints below.

Be sure to use a colour that looks good with your hair and eye colour and use lip liner in the same colour family. First outline your lips, then fill them in for an extra layer of colour. Use a matte or longwearing lipstick because you don't want to be constantly reapplying your makeup during the day.

Layer lip products, such as primer, balm, or lacquer to help to make the lipstick stay on

Always brush your teeth before hand to ensure clean, fresh teeth.

Apply your lipstick with a lip brush. First one layer of lipstick, blot with a tissue, and apply the second layer.

Be sure to have makeup remover ready for mistakes. You all know that lippy doesn't just wipe off. Especially not off that beautiful white gown!

Test Your Makeup
Make sure you test your makeup approximately two weeks before your wedding. This will give you time to make any adjustments. Keep your makeup on for the duration of a meal, and see how you look after a few hours. You might even want to get a spray bottle and spritz some water on your face to simulate tears. This will help you determine if your makeup has the staying power you will need.

Look Fabulous in Your Wedding - Kiss and Makeup

In all my years doing makeup and hair I have enjoyed every experience and I am very thankful for so many wonderful brides. Without them, I wouldn't have gained so much knowledge in makeup, hair and weddings. I would like to pass on what I have learned from these women to future brides in hopes of making their wedding day even more enjoyable.

One of the most important tips I can give a bride is to have a complete trial session done prior to the wedding. This helps work out all the kinks when deciding what you want to look like on your wedding day. You should have your hair and makeup done and your headpiece placed on during this time. It is unbelievable how different your hair will look with the headpiece. Although this is an extra expense, it's well worth it. It may save you from a lot of stress on the wedding day.
You can't expect someone else to see inside your head, so it's safest to have a full session done. You may also need some other grooming done before the wedding. Highlights, a bang trim or an eyebrow shaping, you'll never know unless you have the practice session.

Keeping your skin in good condition is a must. If layers of dead skin are sitting on the surface, the foundation won't adhere well. Facials will help slough off just enough so the foundation can adhere better, leaving your skin glowing and smooth. Drinking water helps also; hydrating you and your skin, helping to keep it supple. Of course the glowing comes from inside you, but sometimes we need a little help on the outside to let our insides shine through.
Waxing the facial hair above your lip is a good tip, we don't want to look like we have a better mustache than the groom. Make sure you do this a couple times before, way ahead of the wedding date so you know how your skin will react to the waxing.

Remember that your makeup and hair will appear less no matter how you look at it. All the white around you, sunlight during the pictures, reflecting light against you and darkness of the reception hall are all things that will make your makeup appear lighter in person and in the photographs. The elegance of your dress and a more ornate headpiece will take away from the fullness of your hair. So your hair needs to be a little fancier and fuller than you would normally have. You'll be amazed at how everything looks "together." You want "you" as a complete package to be the focal point, not your dress and headpiece. To me there is a balance of three things; looking good in your photos, looking like a glowing bride to the guests and feeling great about what you look like to yourself. You will look beautiful if you feel beautiful.

Got Hair? Five Techniques For Hair Removal Down There!

With the approach of summer many women (and men) begin to think about wearing a swimsuit and all that it entails. Remember to consider your hair care down there before purchasing a new bathing suit this season. Decide what method you will use, how much hair you will remove, how much it will cost and how often you need to repeat the process.
Removing pubic hair is safe but often painful and inconvenient unless you only need a trim. Some of the hair removal procedures you may consider are waxing, Brazilian waxing, shaving, delipatories (hair removal cream) and electrolysis. You can by products or use at home or you can visit a salon and spa for hair removal.
General waxing consists of either warm or cold wax applied to the pubic hair region and then pulled off with strips of cotton. Waxing can be extremely painful but it does allow you to control how much hair is removed. One benefit is that you will remain hair free for several weeks.

Brazilian waxing is the same procedure as above but all hair (including any on the buttocks) is removed except for a small "landing strip" of hair. Brazilian waxing is more extensive and often a great deal more painful than general waxing but it gives you the feeling of being hairless down there!

Shaving has several advantages and disadvantages.

Shaving is done with a razor in the privacy of your home and gives you complete control of how much hair to remove. Shaving allows you to determine how much hair to remove and even allows you to create a design if desired. Unfortunately, shaving does not last as long but it is virtually painless if you can avoid ingrown hairs.Delipatories are hair removers like Nair that are available at the drugstore. These products require you to apply a cream or gel, wait a certain time and then rub off your hair. Unfortunately, many delipatories don't remove your hair if it is very coarse and the product and the rubbing can leave you with a sore, burning feeling.

Electrolysis involves a tiny and thin metal probe being slid into a hair follicle. Each hair follicle must be shocked with electricity that damages the follicle. This method is time consuming, painful, tedious and expensive but is permanent once all follicles have been destroyed.

If you do decide to visit a salon or spa for hair removal visit first before making an appointment. Make sure the location is clean and in good repair. Check to see if the aesthetician is licensed. Ask how they sterilize their supplies or if they provide a new set for each client. It is also important that they use a fresh, disposal bed covering for each client.

Top 5 Beauty Tips for Brides.for looking more beautiful

Every bride wants to be picture-perfect for their big day. You want to look like yourself - but different, more dramatic, fresh... it can feel like a big task. Many brides think that because a wedding is such a big day, they have to go big on the makeup. Well, you've got the perfect groom, the perfect dress, and the perfect flowers - don't overshadow that by making your face as grand as the day itself.

Here are some top tips for helping you create a beautiful look that you will treasure in your wedding photographs for years to come.

Tip One: Less Is More

Yup, we've all got the idea - your wedding is the biggest celebration of the year. Do try to remember, though, that everyone wants to see you, not a radically changed woman masquerading in your wedding gown. If you don't wear much makeup normally - or none at all - you don't want to walk down the aisle with a heavily painted face. It won't seem natural, you won't be comfortable, and the pictures taken will reflect it (not to mention your memories).

The makeup that you do use should be good for flash photography, too. Stick with foundations that have a yellow undertone, as these will create a warm healthy appearance in the photographs that are taken during the wedding and reception. You might also look into a good bronzing powder to warm your skin tone. Apply bronzing powder with a natural bristle brush, lightly applying color to areas of the face that the sun naturally warms. Your forehead, the high curve of your cheeks, and the bridge of your nose are the best places, but if you're naturally pale you might want to apply a very light dusting over your neck and chest for a more even tone.

Use a gel foundation primer before you apply your make-up, but be careful about the powder you use to set everything. A light dusting of loose powder will help prevent unwanted shine (this can result in a greasy, highly reflective look in your photos), but stay away from heavy pressed powders. Too much powder will leave your skin looking chalky, dull and unhealthy in photos.Tip Two: Glittery Bright

If I were doing a list of Do's and Don'ts, this tip would top the list of Don'ts.
Right, unless you've been living in a cave for the last few years, you know that glitter is all the rage. It's beyond trendy, and done right can be absolutely beautiful. Five or so years from now, though, will it still be so cool? Probably not. Do you want to look at your wedding photos and see a glittery shiney bride, or would you rather have a timeless, classic and natural face?

Basically, by going with "trends", you end up dating your photographs. If you're really stuck on the idea of glitter, why not get some special photographs taken before the wedding? Grab the groom, set an appointment, and go glam at the studio, but go for a natural, matte look on the big day itself.

Go for warm, flattering cheek colors like peach and rose, and don't forget about the bronzing powder I mentioned. This will give you a bit of a shine without unflattering glow. When you apply blush, focus on the rounded parts of your cheek and blend the blush back and up towards the top part of your ears. If you have dry skin, you can achieve a natural, dewy glow by using a cream blush - but powder blush will work better on oily skin.

By focusing on blush and bronzer instead of glitter and shine, you'll avoid looking either washed out or super-bright in your wedding photos. If after all this you still just have to have some glitter on your wedding day, stick to a little highlighting on your cheekbones or eyes, not your whole face.

Tip Three: Look-a-Likes

Many brides want to create a look that's just like their favorite celebrity's. Sultry, smokey eyes and the pale lips of J-Lo are often-quated requests to makeup artists.

There's nothing wrong with finding inspiration from the big names, but make sure that the look you choose works for the theme you're using. J-Lo looked great with that pale lip look, but it really won't go with the whole Victorian theme ... you get the idea.

If you are perusing the magazines looking for inspiration, stick with looks that match the theme you have for your overall wedding. Celebrities get married all the time, and the zines love covering the big event - focus on the ones that have the elements you're already using in your own wedding.

Tip Four: The Eyes Have It

It's been said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and this being true, you want your eyes to be a special feature of your whole look.
When you begin working on your eyes, start with your brow coloring. Use a slightly darker brow powder or gel than your natural hair color. This will keep them looking their best, and you can fill them in with a pencil in a light shade to create a perfect shape if you need to. Your brows are likely the only thing you won't have to "touch up" during your wedding day, if you do it this way.

Create lush lashes by using an eyelash curler and a couple coats of mascara. Don't overshelm your lashes with too much mascara though - you don't want to end up "clumping". Instead, apply one coat of mascara, allow it to dry completely, and then use an eyelash curler to shape them. If you still think you need a second, apply it after.

Eyeshadow should compliment your natural coloring on your wedding day - try to stay away from unnatural colors like purple and blue, and stay closer to warm tan, orange, and pink colors.

Want a quick tip on eyeliner? Check out some of those star-studded pictures in magazines, and you'll notice that eyeliner always looks full (not thick) on celebrities. Makeup artists do this easily by brushing one stroke of eyeliner over the top of the eye, above the lashes, and a second stroke inside, under the lashes and close to the eye. This makes your lashes look fuller by leaving no "empty" space.

Tip Five: Consult the Experts

Hey, not all of us have the budget to hire a makeup artist to transform our bridal beauty into something amazing. There's no need to panic - there are trained experts right behind the counter of many of your local cosmetic stores. Most cosmetic companies now offer bridal consultations for free, and they will show you really great techniques and insider tricks. Usually, these consultations are performed by a professional makeup artist, so you can glide right through the process on your big day.

Top Ten 10 Makeup Secrets For Wedding.Makeup party makeup bridals makeup casual makeup

On that special wedding day, every bride wants to look her very best and be at her most beautiful, but presenting your best face can be a little daunting. How do you make sure your wedding makeup stays on all day, looking flawless in your wedding photos, and manage to make you feel like a model, but still look like you?

I spent years doing wedding makeup early on in my career when I worked as a makeup artist in the beauty salon. I also did photo shoots and advertising on the side for top magazines, and I realized that the best wedding makeup was actually the same makeup tips and tricks that I used on top models for their photo shoot. The dynamics are the same, whether it be a wedding, or a top photo shoot. Pictures are being taken. It must stay on all day. The model/ bride wants to look beautiful, yet real.

Are you having a makeup artist do your makeup? Here are some tips that will help you make sure that you get the look you want:

1. A lot of time and detail went into choosing your dress, ring, flowers, and even your hairstyle. Don't let your makeup take a backseat. Take the time to go through magazines and pull out makeup styles that you really like, even tear out the ones you really hate. It could be how a certain feature is played up, or that great lipstick color, or how the skin glows, or even how they used way too much eyeliner. All this is easy to say and show to a makeup artist, like me, with pictures. It helps tremendously to show your desires by pictures rather than endlessly describing it. This helps me immensely in seeing what you like and don't like. Remember, our mental ideas of pink lipstick could be completely different. There is a lot of truth in the adage that says "a picture is worth a thousand words". It really gives a lot more information with a visual sense.
2. To save some wear and tear on your nerves on that big day, by all means, schedule a consultation, or even better, a complete makeup application before the big day with your makeup artist. Plan it for the rehearsal dinner, or a special evening out alone with your groom, or a get together with all the bridesmaids. Don't overlook this very important step because this way you can see if you like your makeup artist's style.

Things to bring to your consultation appointment:

*Tear sheets from magazines, of makeup you like and don't like.

*A picture of your wedding dress (a Polaroid will do). This gives the artist a great idea of the style of the dress and the wedding. Is it romantic? Dramatic? Elegant? This gives an idea of your style.

*The shade of lipstick that you1d like to wear. If I don't have it, using yours is no problem. This is also a great test to see how long your lipstick will last during the evening.

*Your favorite waterproof mascara. I highly recommend using your tried and true mascara, and yes, waterproof. You just might be shedding tears of joy. If it's your brand, you do not have to worry about watery eyes, redness, allergies, etc.

Remember, your makeup run-through is the time to play, try different ideas, colors, etc. Don't be afraid to say you don't like something. Makeup is easy to take off and reapply. Once you have your look down, make sure the makeup artist writes everything out, and notes makeup items you may not have that you'll needing for that day. And don't forget, if your makeup rehearsal is set for a romantic dinner with your groom, have the makeup artist change the lipstick or eye makeup a little so your groom can't tell you are wearing the same thing for your wedding day. We wouldn't want him seeing the same look twice.

Are you planning on doing your makeup yourself? Here are some great tips and tricks that I use in photo shoots that you can easily incorporate into your look to make it last all day.

1. Make sure your foundation is an absolute perfect match. Color blend along the side of the jaw and blend in 2-3 strokes. Is it gone? It should be. If not, or you find yourself blending forever, you have the wrong shade. It's not that it blends in, but how fast. I can make any shade blend in if I blended it long enough.

2. For under eye circles, the easiest way to lighten them is with an opposite color applied on top first. If your darkness is gray, lightly brush a soft pink eye shadow on clean skin first, and then apply your foundation. If the darkness is more blue, try a matte light peach shadow. You'll find yourself using much less concealer and foundation.

3. Using concealer is easier when you have the perfect shade. Don't go 1-2 shades lighter than your skin, as this actually makes the darkness appear more gray and muddy. Mix your concealer shade with a drop of your foundation and then apply. You want your skin tone to appear one even shade.

3. To keep foundation and concealer on all day, take a Kleenex folded into squares, and lightly press into the foundation before you've powdered. This removes excess oils from the foundation and leaves pure pigment on the skin. If you find this removes too much foundation, then apply a little more than you think you need, and then press. You'll find that foundation stays on hours longer.

4. Lightly brush on loose powder with a large brush to set. This is not the time to press powder into the skin with a powder puff. This actually can make your skin look and get shinier quicker.

5. Apply your blush next. Find a blush brush that is the size of the apple of your cheek for a perfect application. Pick up your color and tap onto the apples of the cheeks, slowly blending back towards the temple. When you have enough on, take a clean makeup sponge and blend. This one step makes your blush look real, rather than just sitting on the surface of your skin. Also, by applying blush first, if you look great with just your blush on, you have the right amount. If it looks too bright or harsh, lighten it up.

6. Do your lips next. To last all day, powder lips first, then apply your lip pencil filling in the entire lip. Don't worry too much about the outline of the mouth. Then, apply your lipstick shade, blot, powder, and apply again. By blotting and powdering, you are actually removing the excess wax in the lipstick that causes it to bleed. Once finished, then apply a light coat of lip gloss if desired in the middle of the bottom lip.

7. Brush and fill in eyebrows if needed with a shade that's 1-2 shades lighter than your eyebrow hairs. Too dark, and you can start looking a little harsh. Brush through with a toothbrush afterwards for a more natural look.

8. Last but not least, your eyes. A soft shimmering cream or white is beautiful on the brow bone, and the inner corners of the eyes, both above and below the lashes. This wakes up the eyes and creates a beautiful highlight. To make eyes appear larger, apply a sand or taupe in the crease of the eye. Blend so that the shadow fades well. Keep the eyes looking neutral, while the colors emphasize the cheeks and lips. Make the most dramatic part of the eye your lashes and eyeliner as this looks the best in pictures. Take a black or brown pencil and line the lashes on the outer 1/2 or 1/4 of the eye. Blend with a Q-tip. Then, take your mascara and a eyeliner brush, and lightly line the eye with your mascara. Once it's dried, smudge again, and you1ll find that your eyeliner will stay on forever. If your mascara is waterproof, that's even better. And remember to curl your lashes before, not after mascara.

9. If you're applying false eyelashes, single eyelashes are the most natural looking. An easy way to apply them is to apply one coat of mascara, let dry. Apply a dot of glue on the tip of the lash and along the length. This is actually the part that anchors to your lashes. Then, take your tweezers, looking down, and place 2-3 single lashes on the outer 1/4 of the eye. Let the glue dry, and then another coat of mascara to seal the lashes together. False eyelashes go a long way in making your eyes dramatic and the focus of the face.

10. Finishing Touches: When you're done with your look, you may want to apply a little more blush, and then finish with a final brush of loose powder. Make sure everything is blended well. If you feel like you have a lot of makeup on, lightly mist with a soft spray of water to set. This will take away the feeling of makeup on your skin and also helps to set the makeup. If you want your skin to glow, lightly brush on a soft shimmering eye shadow or the new shimmer loose powders. To avoid over doing it, just dust across the tops of the cheekbones and collar bones. For a more over-all glow, you can even go across the forehead and chin.

You want to look beautiful, glowing, soft and romantic. Remember, this moment only happens once in a lifetime.
